A 3-generation company that started in 1955 by Russell Hjort, who began with a single axel dump truck and a rubber tired backhoe. Lawrence Hjort took over and expanded by adding an excavator, dozer and a dump truck. Dean Hjort (current owner) has taken over by growing to 25 trucks, numerous pieces of equipment and great work relationships that continue to grow.

Hjort Excavating works various sizes of jobs. There is no job too big or too small that we won’t entertain bidding. We work commercial and residential. We haul various materials from sand, gravel, rip-rap, asphalt, rubble and demolition.
